Besides the special services, groups and committees that make up the life of the church, a few other fun activities take place throughout the year:

A walking exercise group meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:00pm in the Fireside Room.

Vacation Bible School is a joint ministry opportunity between First Congregational and our neighbors at the United Methodist Church. This past summer's success was Living Water for ALL God's Children and led the children through a journey to Kenya (not enough water), Indonesia (too much water), Vietnam (unsafe water), and Alaska (frozen water!) using Church World Service curriculum. The children and volunteers donated $242.29 towards the purchase of a rainwater collecdtion barrel for an orphanage ministry in Kenya and collected food items for our Dayton Community Food Bank.

Our Church Bazaar is held the first Sunday in December as a fundraiser for the church. Handmade food and craft items are sold, and a soup and sandwich lunch is provided for $5. All are welcome to participate and attend!

Community Yard Sales abound the first Saturday in May, and there is an annual Churches of Third Street Yard Sale in which we participate, raising additional funds for our congregations. Save your usable items for next spring!

Local Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Al-Anon groups meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00pm and Wednesdays at noon in the dining hall.

A loss support group meets on Thursdays at 6:30pm. This is a lay-led occasion for those who are moving through conversations about grief and loss resulting from death of a loved one, major health issues, loss of employment or home, or any number of other grievous events in life. It is open to anyone.
